Nelson Madiba #Mandela deserves a rest

The media from print to electronic and to networking sites are awash with news and updates on Madiba's fight for life.

The interest in Madiba's fight for life is evidence of how big an icon he is even to the youth.
I personally was born when Madiba was in prison and then I understood little of what was happening around me but I reminisce songs by several South African artists of that era, calling for the release of Nelson Mandela who was finally released in 1993.
He became president and after just 4 years, he handed over the torch to Thabo Mbeki.

I only got to understand Madiba's short political reign and its relevance to our generation in the history class in high school.
Madiba was different from Jomo Kenyatta, Kamuzu Banda, Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese Seko, Haile Mengistu in that;
(i) he was not authoritarian or dictatorial;
(ii) he believes in continuous renewal;
(iii) he was not ruthless;
(iv) he didn't seek revenge but truth and reconciliation and;
(v) he was selfless.
