Just like the Mardi Gras in the US, the Harare International Festival of the Arts, HIFA is a major event on Zimbabwe's calendar.
HIFA's significance is more pronounced by the fact that the premium event marks the end of a festive summer and the beginning of a rather solemn winter.
This year is different however, as the next major event could either be the decisive watershed and potentially bloody elections or the UNWTO summit all of which put our ever bickering political leaders back into the limelight.
The life after HIFA is uncertain this year and the event marked the end of a carefree, celebratory, artistic life as Zimbabweans transform into either fanatical political activists or hysterical human rights campaigners.
Life after HIFA is a uncertain and all we can say is "What's next?"
